Jacky Sallow Photographer
I became captivated by photography over 30 years ago when my friend, Steve Dubin,
handed me a camera and set me loose on the world. Although I was a trained
artist, the photographic image became my passion.
The world became my university and every photographer I met, my teacher. I
studied photography like I had studied painting, copying the great artists.
I was fortunate to study with the illustrious portrait photographer Yousuf Karsh.
Rock photographer Neal Preston looked at countless proof sheets and helped
develop my talents during the rock and roll years.I was staff photographer at
Elektra/Asylum Records during the late 70s where I worked with artists including
Queen, Jackson Brown, Joni Mitchell, Motley Crue, Eagles and the Cars.
After leaving Elektra I struck out on my own diversifying along the way.
Music stayed a mainstream with Michael Jackson, Placido Domingo, Steely Dan, HMI,
and jazz great Lee Ritenour becoming clients. Others photographed include Henry
Kissinger, Hillary Rodham Clinton and the late Howard Ashman.
My business now runs the gambit from portraits to entertainment to school
photography. I have been published in Time, Newsweek, People, Us, Playboy
and Rolling Stone. My photos have been made into trading cards, calendars,
posters and CD packages. However, my favorite pictures are the ones I see
when I go into client's homes. I love capturing personal moments and
seeing the joy they bring families. That is satisfaction!
Photography continues to be my passion - carrying me down a pathway in life
that I could not even imagine.
